Earth Week is a time for people around the world to come together and take action to protect our planet. This year, Sustainable Cobourg’s Youth Ambassador, Tovan Lew, lead our Earth Week kick-off with a community cleanup in partnership with the Town of Cobourg Mayor’s challenge, and the turnout was phenomenal! The event brought together individuals from all walks of life who are passionate about sustainability and making a difference in our community and for our planet.
According to Tovan, this year’s cleanup at Peace Park was a huge success. “We saw a 10x increase in volunteers for this year’s event, which was amazing. A big shoutout to our local Embers for all their efforts!”
In addition to the cleanup, Sustainable Cobourg is also hosting a number of other events throughout Earth Week including a community garden tour, guided hikes at Headwaters Farm, and a talk about health and the environment with Sue Shikaze.
Tovan hopes that sustainability initiatives like these show how everyone can take action in their daily lives to create a greener future. For more information on future events, check out our calendar page.
