Hey Sustainable Peeps,

I thought you might be interested in our webinar today that GoOpenData is piloting (I’m the volunteer Director of Education for GOOD) and didn’t want you to miss out.

Please feel free to register for the GoOpenData webinar session on Open Data 101 Tuesday August 18 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Participants are encouraged to post questions to our three panelists either in the chat or Q&A section of Zoom. We will be recording the session for evaluation purposes. Feedback is welcome on future webinar session topics. For further information, please contact Jonathan Brown at jbrown@sustainablecobourg.ca

Also, Sustainable Cobourg is working on a GIS Activity Day activity (Nov. 18) for K-12 and postsecondary students. It will be a hybrid activity using ArcGIS Online and other web-based infrastructure and open source resources to explore sustainable development challenges at the local level.

This activity is a spinoff from the Postal Greenhouse hack-a-thon I participated in back in April: https://devpost.com/software/postal-greenhouse. We will be highlighting local talent to showcase how crowdsourcing and citizen science can be used to promote Asset Based Community Development (ABCD). Kelsey Saunders graduated from Cobourg West in 2012, completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University and a postgraduate GIS certificate at Fleming College. She is volunteering her time with Sustainable Cobourg as she explores new opportunities in the post-pandemic digital economy.
