4 Northumberland County Homes Featured During 2016 Natural Building Tour

The Ontario Natural Building Coalition’s annual Natural Building Tour takes place this Sunday, October 2, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. There are many examples of building techniques including straw bale, rammed earth, cob, timber frame, off grid, passive solar and more, and this year 4 of these are located in Northumberland County:

  • Straw bale house – Jack Bond & Kevin Shortt, Kim & Roberto Chiotti, 13572 County Road 24, Dartford
  • Rammed earth home – Sylvia Cook, 109 Mt. Pleasant Road, Castleton
  • Hybrid earth block and straw bale homes – Henry Wiersma, 3987 Timlin Road, Cobourg
  • Straw bale house and education centre – Headwaters Farm, 3517 Rowe Road, Cobourg
