Active Transportation Week in the Town of Cobourg is well under way, but there is still time to take part. Dust off your bicycles, get your walking shoes on, take Cobourg Transit and participate in any one of the activities listed below.

Thursday
Wheeling & Cycling to School
Time: 8 a.m. departure
Location: From Donegan Park via Lakeshore Road & Waterfront Trail
Certified Can-Bike instructors will lead and supervise students who participated in the recent Safe Cycling clinic.

All parents and teachers are also welcome to ride. Helmets required.

Friday
Inaugural Mayor’s Ride
Time: 9 a.m.
Location: Burnham Street & South of King Street Meet Up
Everyone is invited to attend
Route to be determined by Mayor

Saturday
Cobourg Police, Safe Communities Northumberland and Cycle Transitions will be hosting a Bicycle Rodeo in the Cycle Transitions parking lot at 739 D’Arcy Street (directions) from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Cycle Transitions will be offering bike checks for mechanical safety, minor repairs as needed, a skills course, and helmet fitting.

There will also be hot dogs, drinks, apples and ice cream free for participants. A number of prizes will be given away at the end of the event. Everyone is invited to attend.
